What makes you different than other divorce attorneys?
One of the things that I think is unique is my financial background. I think it’s really helpful to be able to look at balance sheets, checking account statements, and all of those things and know what I’m seeing and be able to sort through that quite quickly, knowing what matters and what doesn’t matter. For that reason, I do quite a few divorces where I’m representing small business owners. There are a lot of small business owners in Maine. That’s not the only kind of divorce that I do, obviously. The other thing that I think makes me different is that I understand that it is not a great situation to have a lawyer in your life. It takes a toll. The best thing I can do for my clients is to have them leave the process as intact as possible, make sure they have financial security, respect them and the lives they had before they entered my office, and with hope for the life that they’re going to have after they leave my office. It’s very important to me that I leave my clients better than I found them. It’s very important to me that when they’re finished with me, they feel better for having known me.
